    A Broader Definition of Success

    Rafflesians Chua Jun Yan (13A01A), Lee Chin Wee (14A01B) and Tan Kuan Hian (14S03Q) worked with their friend, Etsuko Lim of Hwa Chong Institution to organise an Our Singapore Coversation session for the students of Northlight school. The four of them conduct public speaking workshops at NorthLight School, which caters to pupils who did not pass their Primary School Leaving Examination.

    Yin Jing Yuan selected to represent Singapore at Asian Youth Games

    Year 4 RI student Yin Jing Yuan was one of only two boys selected to represent Singapore at the 2013 Asian Youth Games (AYG), which will be held in Nanjing, China, from 16 to 24 August. He and Tay Hui Li of RGS, as well as Edric Lim and Ang Wan Qi of the Singapore Sports School were selected at a trial held by the Singapore Table Tennis Association and the Singapore Sports Council.

    Zera Ong wins A*STAR Talent Search

    Zera Ong’s (13S03O) work in cell and molecular biology have won her the admiration of her peers as well as the top honour in the A*STAR Talent Search. Zera’s junior, Michelle Lim (from RGS) won 2nd prize, while RI was named Top School in this annual science outreach programme organised by A*STAR, Science Centre and the Ministry of Education. The results were revealed on 26 April by 1988 Nobel Laureate for Chemistry Professor Hartmut Michel, former Chair of Nobel Committee Professor Bertil Andersson and their team of expert judges from NUS, NTU and A*STAR.

    Busy times for the RI Indian Cultural Society

    2013 has proven to be a very busy year thus far for the RI Indian Cultural Society. On 16 February, they organised an amazing race event together with SINDA which saw nearly 150 Primary 4 and 5 students solving puzzles and learning about moral values on the island of Sentosa. Dubbed Value-O-City, the annual event aimed to inculcate soft-skills in the students, and impress upon them the importance of EQ over IQ. The opening ceremony was graced by our Principal, Mrs Lim Lai Cheng.

    Club Automatica to represent Singapore in RoboCup World Championship

    5 April saw fierce clashes between student-made robots in various fields, and amidst the intense competition two teams from RI Year 5 - 6 Club Automatica have emerged victorious, qualifying to represent the nation in the prestigious RoboCup 2013 World Championship to be held in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, 24 June - 1 July 2013.

    RI sweeps awards at NUS Geography Challenge and retains title for fifth year

    A team of four comprising John Cai (4A), Joshua Chin (4G), Paul Keh (4G) and Timothy Lim (4G) has done the school proud by emerging as the overall champions for this year's NUS Geography Challenge. The team had fought hard over the course of two months from February to March, in various rounds of the challenge, which culminated in an intensive final round. The team's victory marks the fifth year running that RI has won the challenge.
