Outdoor Adventure Learning
Through immersive experience, we want to help our students build the confidence, adaptability and skills to thrive in an ever-changing world

About the Programme
At Raffles Institution, Outdoor Adventure Education goes beyond physical endurance—it is about shaping character, strengthening leadership, and inspiring a lifelong passion for discovery. Through immersive experience, we want to help our students build the confidence, adaptability and skills to thrive in an ever-changing world. We aim to develop Rafflesians into:
Learners who are resilient, reflective and thrive in challenges
Outdoor adventure learning fosters resilience, self-reflection, and a growth mindset. Through hands-on, challenge-based activities in the PE Outdoor Education curriculum, Rafflesians learn to push their limits, embrace discomfort, and persevere through adversity—equipping them with the confidence to tackle life’s challenges.
Leaders who contribute their unique strengths and bring out the best in their teams.
Leadership in the outdoors is about teamwork, adaptability, and leveraging individual strengths for collective success. Every Rafflesian has unique talents to contribute, and our programmes encourage students to recognise their strengths, support one another, and lead with empathy.
Pioneers comfortable with the unknown, with a sense of adventure to explore and engage with the natural world.
Adventure fosters curiosity and a deep connection with the environment. Through key student developmental experiences such as cohort adventure camps, the Year 3 OBS programme, Outdoor Adventure and Experiential Learning electives, and the GapX programme, students engage with nature, develop outdoor skills, and cultivate a spirit of exploration. These experience instils an appreciation for the natural world and the confidence to navigate the unknown.
