About the Programme
Our Malay Language Elective Programme (MLEP) nurtures bilingual leaders who are culturally grounded and community-minded. Encapsulated in the vision of Arif Budiman – a learned person who contributes to society through excellent and exemplary service – our programme empowers students to stay rooted in their identity, contribute actively to the community and dedicate themselves to service.
Students engage in a range of experiences, from literature camps and writing workshops to internships, lectures and dialogue sessions with community leaders. They deepen their appreciation of Malay literature and culture, and strengthen their language proficiency through creative expression, translation and the publication of original works. Overseas immersion trips broaden their horizons and reinforce the role of language in fostering shared understanding.
Guided by the MLEP spirit of Ilmu Pemecah Ruyung, Cita Murni Mengangkasa, Jati Diri Membumi—Empowering Knowledge, Boundless Aspirations, Staying Rooted—our students grow into compassionate, articulate and grounded individuals, ready to contribute meaningfully to a flourishing human and natural world.
