E W Barker Institute of Sports (EWBIS) Science Research Programme
Our students explore topics such as biomechanics, physiology, nutrition, psychology and performance analysis to understand how science enhances athletic performance and well-being.

About the Programme
At Raffles Institution, the E W Barker Institute of Sports (EWBIS) Science Research Programme offers an immersive, hands-on experience for students passionate about sports science and research. Our students explore topics such as biomechanics, physiology, nutrition, psychology and performance analysis to understand how science enhances athletic performance and well-being.
Our students conduct action research projects where they apply scientific methods to real-world athletic contexts. They also present their findings at the annual Sports Science Symposium and engage with experts and peers. Learning journeys to local sports organisations and overseas visits offer exposure to cutting-edge labs, university settings and diverse sporting cultures.
These experiences broaden our students’ horizons, deepen their appreciation for the role of science in sport and nurture their growth as confident, curious learners and future pioneers in the field of sports science.
