About the Programme
At Raffles Institution, learning a Mother Tongue Language (MTL) is not just about acquiring fluency. It is a journey of cultural appreciation, personal growth and connection with communities across Asia and the world.
Our curriculum nurtures confident communicators who develop their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through engagement with literary and cultural texts in real-world contexts. Through engaging tasks that facilitate students’ ownership of their learning, our students explore MTL as a tool for expression and discovery. Beyond the classroom, they mentor peers, organise competitions and contribute to cultural initiatives.
Rooted in curiosity and purpose, the study of MTL empowers our students to understand the past and imagine the future — moulding them into learners, leaders and pioneers in an interconnected world.
