BERITA HARIAN: A good command of the Malay language encourages students to study subjects in RI
This is the first year that RI offers the Malay Language as one of the talent areas under Direct Schools Admissions (DSA). According to senior Malay Language teacher, Mr Sazali Sahri, Raffles Institution received quite encouraging participation for this year’s DSA exercise from students who want to continue studying Malay at the school.

"Maybe before some people thought it would be difficult to enter this school but with the existence of this DSA route, it opens up another opportunity for them, especially for students who are proficient and have a deep interest in the Malay language," he said.
Assistant Head of Department, Ms Norhafizah Madbi, also hopes students not only learn about a certain aspect of culture, for example, but also to study, study and share the knowledge gained with the community,"
Emas is a four-year program from secondary one to four, which offers students the opportunity to speak and use Malay in an environment that encourages the exclusive use of the language. MOE has also designated RI as the fourth EMAS centre from 2023.
