Community Advocates' Pop-up Grocery Stall
On 17 August, our Community Advocates (CA) partnered with the resident contributors of Ang Mo Kio Blk 323 and Allkin Singapore to co-organise a pop-up grocery shop at the heart of the neighbourhood. The initiative was born out of the community’s hope to enhance food security through collective efforts. Embodying the values of choice and mutual care, neighbours were invited to contribute excess food and household items to the shop 🛒✨
Our CA students embraced the spirit of volunteerism, organizing a week-long grocery drive in school, conducting door-to-door outreach, and helping with the setup and management of the event. On the day, they even facilitated games for children, managed booths, and assisted residents as personal shoppers.Their efforts brought together 54 households for an afternoon filled with meaningful conversations and various acts of mutual help.
Reflecting on the experience, Belle Ng (25S06O) shared,“I enjoyed meeting and interacting with many people along the way. What stood out most was the dedication of the resident volunteers, who went the extra mile for their neighbors. Their commitment was inspiring and showed me the true power of community.”
Bettina Koo (25S06J) added, "It was a very fulfilling month leading up to the grocery drive as I got to work alongside passionate individuals who sincerely believe in serving and advocating for theunder-resourced, even our resident volunteers despite the challenges they faced. I’m extremely grateful to be able to experience such a meaningful event that has fueled my passion to serve my community."
The dedication and commitment shown by our students, staff, the Raffles Parents Association, and all those involved have truly embodied the spirit of giving back and made a positive impact in the lives of others! 🤝❤️
