Chess – a game that has endured the test of time yet continues to captivate millions around the globe. Even though the pandemic has disrupted our face-to-face sessions and limited the tournaments that members usually attend on a yearly basis, Chess Club has evolved and adapted to keep our members’ morale high. Here in Chess Club, we believe that no man should walk the road alone. Regardless of our different backgrounds in chess, our passion for the game unites us, as one.
Our 2-hour long weekly training sessions consist of a lecture on chess tactics and strategies taught by reputed Federation Masters, and a session for players to pit their skills against one another. The casual tournaments that we organise on a regular basis not only see members taking away essential techniques and skills, but also forging closer friendships through chess. Also, this year, together with student leaders from another school, Raffles Chess Club organised a friendly online tournament, providing a platform for members of all skill levels to compete with one another and test their skills.
