We welcomed a new cohort of Rafflesians with the three-day Orientation and the traditional JRIC (Junior Rafflesian Investiture Ceremony). Themed Invicta, the Orientation saw the Year 4 Peer Support Leaders introducing their juniors to our school’s cheers, anthem and culture, in addition to the campus and the Bishan neighbourhood. Under their seniors’ guidance, the Year 1s also played War Games and participated in a thrilling Crime Night. The camp was capped off with skits put up by the Year 1 classes.
The Year 1 cohort was formally inducted at the JRIC on 6 January. After meaningful speeches by our Principal, the Year 4 Camp Commandant and a representative of the Year 1 student body, the Year 1 Form Teachers pinned RI badges to the pockets of their students’ uniforms, officially welcoming them to the Raffles family.
The Year 1 students then recited the Rafflesian Principle of Honour, and Year Head 1 Mr Eugene Lee led them in a moving a cappella rendition of the Batch Song, Voices that Care. The ceremony concluded with the singing of the Institution Anthem.
