    Raffles CLDCS (Chinese Literacy Drama Cultural Society) is a performing arts CCA. Containing three sections – Chinese drama, songwriting and calligraphy – CLDCS strives to promote Chinese culture and identity within RI through three areas drama, mandarin song-writing, calligraphy, and creative literary script-writing, as well as provide opportunities for our members to showcase their talents.

    Although there are three sections in CLDCS, our members of all sections emerge strongly bonded by having inter-section activities and bonding times, especially after our annual performance held in May every year. The conducive ambience for exchange of ideas on traditional and popular Chinese culture has made our CCA not only stick to the traditional values of Chinese culture but also explore newer values from the younger generation and infuse them into our creation of songs, play scripts and calligraphy works.

    Achievements and Highlights

    Chinese New Year Celebrations
    Collaborated with RI Chinese Orchestra and Raffles Lion Dance Troupe to put up a 30 min performance cum quiz show during Year 6 Assembly

    Mother Tongue Languages Fortnight cum Inter-House Competition (IHC Remix)
    Held a lyrics writing contest and a brand new competition on improvisational theatre

    CCA Day Camp
    Held a bonding camp to induct new members and build team spirit

    Singapore Youth Festival 2016 Arts Presentation – Drama for JC/CI
    Awarded Certificate of Commendation

    《翠谷回响2016》之《风霾》 (Cui Gu Hui Xiang 2016)
    Presented two original plays written by our students —《有风吹过》and《心霾》; Showcased eight original Chinese songs composed by our members; Exhibited our students’ Chinese calligraphy works

    Racial Harmony Week 2016
    Invited to perform a medley of Xinyao and Chinese pop songs at a busking event

    National Day Celebrations 2016
    Presented a special mime performance and performed three popular Chinese songs
