550 Days to RI200 - Becoming Bishan at Ho Yeah Festival 2021
To commemorate ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฌ ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐๐ ๐๐ผ ๐ฅ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฌ, and as part of the ๐๐ค ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐จ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐๐ก, the SG50
Becoming Bishan project by the Class of 2015 will be featured on ๐ฐ ๐๐ฒ๐ฐ, ๐ฎ-๐ฏ๐ฝ๐บ ๐ผ๐ป๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ! The Ho Yeah festival is a youth initiative to highlight the lesser known social and cultural stories of the Cantonese and Hakka in Singapore, and is jointly organised by Bishan Community Club, Ning Yeung Wui Kuan (ๆฐๅ ๅกๅฎ้ณไผ้ฆ), and Bishan CC Youth Club. It is supported by National Heritage Board, Our SG Fund, and various community partners.
The Becoming Bishan project was initiated by a group of Y56 students in 2015 in celebration of the communityโs heritage during SG50 and as part of an effort by Rafflesians to contribute to Bishan and the wider community. It was a ground up initiative that received an outpouring of support from members of the community, including former Kampong San Theng villagers, heritage enthusiasts, and the Kwong Wai Siew Peck San Theng committee.
