Launch of Raffles Archives & Museum's Virtual Tour

On 5 February 2021 (Friday), on the 850th day to RI's Bicentennial, the Raffles Archives & Museum (RAM) virtual tour was launched! We had the privilege of inviting former Headmaster, Mr Eugene Wijeysingha, as guest-of-honour to grace the simple ceremony. Under his leadership and direction, and with the help of dedicated staff, the RAM was officially set up back in 1994.

Speaking about his vision of inspiring Rafflesians who would walk through the school’s doors when he launched the museum, Mr Wijeysingha said: “I thought that young people who came to the school had to be impacted with a certain spirit, with a certain vision.”

“Then young people who walk the hallways can be impacted by what they see, the achievements and the people that came before them. And by seeing these things, they would be inspired to do the same.”

The virtual museum includes over 40 datapoints. Video interviews and other multimedia content are also available in the virtual tour.

“RAM captures RI’s long and illustrious history and heritage. We hope that Virtual RAM serves to Inform-Connect-Inspire all of us who are associated with RI,” said Mr Magendiran, the Advisor for Special Projects & Alumni Relations.

During these unprecedented times, we hope to take the opportunity to showcase the documentation and preservation of RI’s history, and to make RAM accessible to both Rafflesians and the public, wherever they may be. The video recording of interviews, collation of data, and video-editing of RAM's virtual tour came to fruition through the hard work of the RAM Club boys.
