President's Scholars 2022

On 11 August 2022, Eugene Chua Weiheng (Class of 2019) and Lau Ka Keong, Andrew (Class of 2019) were presented the President's Scholarship 2022 by President Halimah Yacob at the Istana.

Mr Eugene Chua Weiheng is awarded the Public Service Commission Scholarship (Teaching Service) and will be reading History at Harvard University in the United States of America. At RI, he was the Vice Chairperson of the Raffles Gavel Club and fostered a welcoming and supportive environment for public speaking. Eugene has been active in community service, where he volunteered weekly as a tutor with the Ang Mo Kio Family Services Centre for two years to coach primary school children from underprivileged backgrounds He also volunteers with the Southeast Asia Exchange, which aims to help youths better engage with the region and with one another, and the Animal Lovers League.

Mr Lau Ka Keong Andrew is awarded the Public Service Commission Scholarship and will be reading Economics and English at Yale University in the United States of America. He was the President of the History and Strategic Affairs Society at RI, and also the Secretary General of the Raffles Model United Nations Conference in 2019 where he played a critical role in organising a successful conference which involved over 360 participants and staff. In service of the school and wider community, Andrew was involved in the Peer Helpers Programme at RI, which equipped students with knowledge about teenagers’ emotional well being and tools to support one another He also dedicated time to volunteer as a tutor for underprivileged students at Ulu Pandan Community Foundation.
