Our Approach

Learner Outcomes
Through art education, we aim to cultivate students who: embrace change and continuous learning in the arts have ample exposure, holistic knowledge and authentic experience in related areas of an artistic discipline as well as inter-disciplinary context understand the national and international arts scenes, community as well as current practices and ethics support, participate and contribute to the arts scene through strong personal mastery and the pursuit of excellence uphold the Institution’s value of Fortitude, Integrity, Respect and Enterprise through artistic practices.

Curriculum Overview 
General Art Programme (GAP)
The GAP modules focus on Visual Literacy and Visual Communication, which equip Rafflesians with a set of skills to understand and analyse the contextual, cultural, ethical, aesthetic, intellectual, and technical components involved in the production and use of visual materials. A visually literate student is both a critical consumer of visual media and a competent contributor to a body of shared knowledge and culture.

Talent Delvelopment

Art Elective Programme (AEP)
The Art Elective Programme (AEP) aims to provide a comprehensive and exciting art education to develop well-rounded students in the areas of visual arts. It aims to nurture their creativity, imagination and art criticism abilities. Through this, students will have the confidence, maturity and skills necessary to function as young artists.  The syllabus for AEP follows the Raffles Schools’ Art Programme framework of “Art and Me, Art and the Community and Art and the World” in delivering modules in the three main areas of Coursework, Studio Practice and the Study of Visual Arts. Students are expected to demonstrate competences in each of these areas which are organized in a distributed weighting at each level. Through the programme, students will be given the opportunities to work with Artists In Residence as well as participate in students’ art exhibitions where their works will be showcased within the school community as well as to the public.
