Guitar Ensemble

Guitar Ensemble 2022

The Raffles Institution Guitar Ensemble was formed in 1990. A full-fledged Niibori guitar ensemble, we employ guitars of varying sizes and pitches in order to achieve an orchestra effect. Boasting a wide repertoire ranging from classical pieces to Japanese works, we strive to instil in our ~30 members the passion for music and the guitar.

We encourage interaction between members so as to foster close bonds with one another, by conducting games on activity days. In addition to well-received annual public concerts, as well as various in-school performances, we also encourage our members to be socially responsible and contribute to the community outside of school. To this end, Ensemble members have volunteered their time for organisations such as Harvest Care Centre, Metta School in recent times.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ensemble was unable to hold live concerts. However, Ensemble members have recorded various songs to share with the school. Haru Ga Kita, Streets of London and Eine Kleine Musik were performed by the whole Ensemble, which consists of 31 members. The small group items were performed by different groups of members, each performing a song of their choice. The songs below were performed by the 2022 batch of Year 3 and Year 4 Guitar Ensemble members.
