Goodbye Mr Subhas Anandan
It is with great sadness that RI mourns the loss of its alumnus, Mr Subhas Anandan, who was from the RI Class of 1965. He was revered as a lawyer with a good head, a big heart and an uncommon touch.
As a pre-university student in RI, Mr Subhas was very active in sports, representing the school in Athletics and Cross-country in 1964. He was also a member of the soccer team.
Mr Subhas, who was called to the Bar in 1971, believed strongly in his ability to make a difference in criminal law. He had a strong sense of justice and believed that even the accused deserved fair representation in court.
He pioneered the Association of Criminal Lawyers and promoted pro bono services even before it became an essential feature of legal practice in Singapore.
The school extends its deepest condolences to Mr Subhas Anandan’s family and friends.
