Raffles Interact's Terrarium Building Session & National Orchid Gardens Visit

On the morning of 1 April, Team Raffles Day, our Interactors held a terrarium-building session with the elderly at Toa Payoh Care Corner. The terrarium-building kicked off with an energetic introduction, and the elderly began chatting excitedly with each other when they heard that they would be creating their very own terrariums (some of them dubbed them their own 'mini-gardens'!)

'It was heartening to see both the young and the old create something beautiful together,' said Lim Zinn-E (4F), President of the RI Interact Club. 'The smiles on all the faces in the room showed that they were enjoying the process of building the terrariums.'

With the dinosaur egg-like terrariums done, each group made a larger terrarium that will be displayed at the Care Corner as a memento. The elderly and Interactors also came together to create lotus flower paper origami, which the elderly happily brought home along with their terrariums.

The next stop for the morning was the National Orchid Gardens at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, for which the Interactors had secured complimentary passes through the National Parks Board. The elderly enjoyed the breezy walk and we learnt about the different species of orchids native to the tropics.
